Recently I had the pleasure of having lunch with Hillary Francis Offutt, special events coordinator at Union Station. Though I've lived in the area my entire life, rarely had I thought of it as more than a pretty train station. If I travel, I usually fly or drive so I had never ventured inside those pretty stone walls - even though I'd done my fair share of admiring the exterior while driving by. It turns out I'm not alone - lots of people in the local area don't realize that Union Station is available to host grand celebrations - including weddings. Can you imagine getting married in such a place? This majestic beaux-arts depot has been a historic landmark since the early twentieth century. It certainly sets the tone for a truly timeless affair...

Stunning architectural details are everywhere you look. What a spectacular venue for a travel themed wedding - or a place to conclude a love story that began over long distances. I also highly recommend this iconic venue if DC is simply dear to your heart.
